Being able to communicate in an inclusive way is key to getting the very best out of our people and meeting the needs of our clients and customers. This course looks at how the language we use and the way we communicate can serve to reinforce bias and perpetuate stereotypes and examines the role that inclusive communication can play in supporting a working culture where everyone feels able to contribute and achieve their potential.
This course will give a better understanding of:
- why language and communication are key to creating an inclusive working culture
- how exclusive language can impact on relationships, recruitment and motivation
- the importance of using respectful language when dealing with people from marginalised or minority groups
- why our micro-messages play such a crucial role in inclusive communication.
Inclusive language is where people feel they're part of the team - everybody is part of this team. Any use of language, or terms we're using, or jokes that we think are funny which have the effect of isolating individuals, are clearly not going to be inclusive.Professor Binna Kandola OBEBusiness Psychologist, Senior Partner and co-founder of Pearn Kandola
